Monash Medical Centre Casey Carpark Needs More Accessible Bays and Better Path-of-Travel Than Standard Retail
Monash Health Casey Hospital in Berwick serves a rapidly growing outer suburban population. Their carpark remark involved accessible bay updates to current AS/NZS 2890.6 IS symbol standards, an increase in accessible bay count to meet Monash Health's internal 6% policy, and path-of-travel marking from every accessible bay to the hospital's main entry.
The existing path-of-travel marking was incomplete — it covered the route from the closest accessible bays but didn't extend to the accessible bays in the outer carpark rows. A patient in a wheelchair in an outer bay had no marked path guidance. Monash Health's facilities team had flagged this as a risk during their DDA access review.
We extended the path-of-travel marking to all accessible bay locations, coordinated the path routing with the hospital's wayfinding consultant, and updated the IS symbols on all accessible bays in a single session. The session took one full overnight window to complete the 340-bay carpark.
Berwick is the Casey established suburb — Berwick Village retail, Monash Medical Centre Casey, Clyde Road commercial, and the residential and community businesses. VicRoads approved.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Monash Medical Centre Casey, Berwick Village retail, and Clyde Road commercial carparks are part of our Casey schedule. Hospital path-of-travel marking and accessible bay update is standard scope for medical facility carparks. We've completed 5,000+ projects nationally since 2009 and carry $20M public liability. Berwick is on our regular Casey run with Narre Warren, Cranbourne, Hallam, and Pakenham. Fixed pricing, VicRoads approved.
A clear, unobstructed marked route at a maximum 1:40 gradient, meeting AS/NZS 1428.1 width requirements (minimum 1.0m clear width, 1.5m preferred at turning points). The marking typically uses a solid contrasting colour line (blue or yellow) following the recommended pedestrian path. For hospital carparks, the path should be confirmed with a DDA access consultant to ensure the route addresses mobility device users, people with vision impairment, and all relevant disability categories.
Monash Health's internal facilities policy requires 6% of total bay count as accessible bays for new and significantly modified carparks. In a 340-bay carpark like Monash Casey Berwick, that's approximately 20-21 accessible bays. AS/NZS 2890.6's statutory minimum for this carpark size would be approximately 8 bays. The Monash Health internal standard is more than double the statutory minimum — a deliberate policy decision reflecting their patient and visitor demographics.
Yes. Selective accessible bay and path-of-travel updates are common hospital carpark scopes. We assess the existing marking in the accessible zones, confirm surface condition and product compatibility, and provide fixed pricing for the specific scope. For Berwick hospital carparks on a tight facilities budget, the highest-impact work (accessible bays and path-of-travel) can be done as a standalone scope independent of the full carpark remark cycle.
VicRoads approved since 2009. Approval means we meet contractor qualification, insurance, and technical standards required to work on state roads and local government road networks. We carry $20M public liability and $10M professional indemnity — your risk manager can request certificates in writing. All road marking in Berwick is completed to AS 1742.3 traffic control standards with retroreflective thermoplastic to AS/NZS 1906.3. Traffic management plans provided before every job. You receive as-built completion photos, a compliance statement, and material certification on completion. We also cover Narre Warren, Cranbourne, Hallam on the same schedule.
