Line Marking Australia ("we", "us", "our") connects people who need line marking with independent, vetted line marking contractors. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it and who we share it with. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
The short version
- We collect your details so we can get you a quote and get your job done.
- We pass your job details to the contractor who quotes and does the work.
- We use a small number of technology providers to run the website, chat, phone line and email.
- We don't sell your information.
- You can ask to see, correct or delete your information at any time.
Information we collect
What you give us
- Your name, business name, email and phone number
- The site address and details of the job
- Plans, drawings and photos you upload
- Messages you send through our website chat, forms or email
- Phone calls to our quote line, which may be recorded and transcribed
- If you apply to join our contractor network: your business details, ABN, licences and insurance
What we collect automatically
- Pages you visit, the device and browser you use, and roughly where you are (city level)
- How you found us, such as the search, ad or link you came from
- Cookies used by Google Analytics to measure how the website is used
How we use it
- To pass your job to a contractor and get you a quote
- To answer your questions and follow up on your enquiry
- To check on the job afterwards, including asking for a review
- To improve our website and see which advertising works
- To meet our legal obligations
We only send marketing emails if you have agreed to them, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
Who we share it with
- The contractor for your job. When a contractor takes on your job, we give them your contact details, the site address and your job details so they can quote and do the work. Contractors are independent businesses and handle your information under their own obligations.
- Website chat: messages in our website chat are processed by OpenAI to write replies.
- Phone line: calls to our quote line may be answered by an automated assistant run on ElevenLabs, which records and transcribes the call.
- Running the website and email: our hosting, database and file storage providers (Vercel and Supabase), our email providers (SendGrid and Google), and Google Maps for address lookup.
- Analytics: Google Analytics.
- Our professional advisers, and government or legal bodies where the law requires it.
Overseas providers
Some of these providers store or process information outside Australia, mainly in the United States. We choose established providers with strong security, but their handling of information is also subject to the laws where they operate.
Keeping it safe
We use secure, access-controlled systems and only give contractors the details they need for your job. We keep enquiry and job records for as long as we need them for the job, follow-up and our legal and tax obligations, and then delete them. If a data breach is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify the people affected and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Cookies
We use Google Analytics cookies to understand how people use the website. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The website still works without them.
Seeing, correcting or deleting your information
Email or call us and we will respond within 30 days. We may need to confirm who you are first. If we can't give you access or delete something (for example, records we have to keep by law), we'll explain why.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, contact us first and we will respond within 30 days. If you're still not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
