Line Marking Rocklea QLD

A wholesale food distributor in Rocklea called us after a WHSQ routine inspection flagged their forklift lane markings — width below the 2.4m clearance standard in two aisles, visible damage throughout. We assessed the 6,100 square metre floor. Older concrete, multiple patches from years of repairs. The patches were the key problem.

Concrete patches have different surface characteristics from the surrounding slab — different porosity, different surface profile, different adhesion behaviour. Three previous contractors had marked over the patches without additional prep. Each time, the markings lifted at the patch edges within months. We identified all major patches during assessment, specified additional surface grinding on those sections to profile them properly, and included that scope in the quote. Client approved. We did the prep, then marked. Two years on, no lifting.

Rocklea is one of Brisbane's oldest industrial suburbs — established around the Ipswich Motorway corridor south-west of the CBD. Wholesale food, manufacturing, printing, automotive. The facilities here are older Brisbane stock. Older stock means older substrates: accumulated repairs, accumulated contamination, accumulated marking history. You need a contractor who actually looks at the floor before quoting, not one who sends a price on square metres.
