Safety Barrier Anchor Plates Create Floor Penetrations — Mark Around Them, Not Over Them
A major Crestmead DC had floor-anchored safety barriers throughout their forklift aisles — the kind bolted into the concrete slab with large-diameter anchor plates. We marked the forklift lanes through the full aisle length, running the lane lines past the anchor plates as the anchor plates were flush with the floor at the time of marking.
About eight months later, the tenant was reconfiguring their forklift protection layout and removed a section of barrier. The anchor plate removal left a 50mm diameter core hole in the concrete — standard practice when the resin anchor is removed. The hole was in the middle of the marked forklift lane. A forklift tyre dropped into it during a turn. No injury, but a WorkSafe near-miss incident report and an emergency concrete repair.
The marking hadn't caused the problem. But the marking had contributed to the driver not seeing the hazard — the continuous forklift lane marking implied a clear, obstacle-free path. A different approach is to mark anchor plate locations with a contrasting warning pattern and include them in the completion documentation as future hazard points if the barriers are ever relocated. We now ask about floor anchor systems during every Crestmead DC assessment and note anchor positions in the completion record.
Crestmead is Logan City's primary industrial hub — Magnesium Drive and the Crestmead Industrial Estate carry some of Queensland's largest distribution centres. TMR approved. We've been completing Crestmead DC and warehouse marking since 2009.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Crestmead Magnesium Drive DCs and Logan industrial estate warehouses are part of our regular Logan logistics schedule. Safety barrier anchor system documentation included in every Crestmead DC assessment — anchor positions noted in completion records as future hazard points. We've completed 5,000+ projects nationally since 2009 and carry $20M public liability insurance. Every Crestmead quote includes a site assessment, surface condition report, and fixed pricing. No estimates that change at invoicing. For Workplace Health and Safety QLD improvement notices we can typically assess within 24 hours and deploy within 48-72 hours. Completion comes with photo documentation, a compliance statement, and material specifications. TMR approved for any road or carpark marking that requires local council or state road authority sign-off.
Anchor plate positions, anchor plate diameter, and which safety barrier sections they belong to. We map this during the assessment and include it in the completion record. If barriers are ever relocated, the anchor removal creates a floor penetration — knowing where it will be and which aisle it's in allows the maintenance team to manage the hazard proactively. Surface preparation is assessed before every Crestmead warehouse job, not assumed. That means checking moisture content, surface pH, contamination, and existing coating compatibility before a product is specified. We've completed 5,000+ warehouse and industrial floor marking jobs since 2009, and we carry $20M public liability insurance. Completion documentation includes product data sheets, application records, and compliance certification.
It depends on how frequently barriers are relocated in your facility. For DC layouts that change regularly, a contrasting warning pattern around anchor plate positions makes the potential future hazard visible. For stable layouts where barriers haven't moved in years, standard forklift lane marking through the anchor zone is acceptable — but the completion record should still document the positions.
Yes with two crews. A 25,000sqm floor is typically completable over two consecutive overnight sessions on Friday and Saturday nights with two parallel crews. We confirm the staging plan and operational constraints with the facility manager before scheduling. We schedule around your operational hours because downtime costs more than the marking job. Most Crestmead facilities run Sunday nights or after-hours weekday windows. We provide a detailed session plan before arrival, work in sections to maintain partial access throughout, and have the area clear before your first shift starts. For time-critical jobs, call Niel directly on 0417 460 236.
TMR Queensland approved since 2009. Approval means we meet the contractor qualification, insurance, and technical standards required to work on state roads and local government road networks. We carry $20M public liability and $10M professional indemnity coverage, which your risk manager or procurement team can request in writing. All road marking work in Crestmead is done to AS 1742.3 traffic control standards with retroreflective thermoplastic to AS/NZS 1906.3. Traffic management plans are provided before every job. You receive as-built completion photos, a compliance statement, and material certification on completion. We also cover Berrinba, Meadowbrook, Loganholme on the same schedule.
