A Harristown industrial warehouse facility had booked a June morning session. We arrived at 7am. The south-facing sections of the external concrete carpark had visible frost — surface temperature was minus 1°C in those areas. Ruthven Street air temperature was 3°C. The north-facing sections were already 8°C from early morning sun.

We marked the north-facing sections immediately — surface was fine. We waited for the south-facing sections to clear. The frost on the south-facing sections didn't fully clear until 10am when the sun angle was high enough to directly strike those surfaces. By then we had a compressed marking window — the south-facing sections were marked between 10am and 12:30pm, which was adequate but tight.

Toowoomba winter sessions with south-facing surfaces require explicit frost clearance planning — the delayed start for south-facing sections needs to be built into the session timeline at the booking stage, not discovered on the day. For large Harristown carparks with mixed orientation, we now split the session into an early-start north-facing section and a delayed-start south-facing section, with the crew doing internal floor work or preparation while waiting for the south sections to clear.
