Ride-On Marking Machines Have Antennas and Fittings That Need 3.2m Overhead Clearance
A Geebung transport depot had a warehouse with mezzanine storage in one section, dropping the effective ceiling height in that area to approximately 2.8 metres. The rest of the building was standard 7-8 metre clear height. We entered the low section with the ride-on marking machine without measuring overhead clearance. The machine's antenna — which sits at roughly 3.1 metres when the machine is loaded — caught a structural steel beam at the mezzanine edge. Bent antenna, machine offline, repair day required.
We finished the low section that night with a walk-behind unit and arranged machine repairs the next day. No significant marking delay — but an entirely avoidable equipment incident. Overhead clearance of 3.2 metres minimum is required for our ride-on machines. Walk-behind units need about 2.2 metres. Any building with a mezzanine level, low-clearance conveyor system, or overhead racking closer than 3.2 metres to the floor requires a clearance check before machine selection.
Geebung's industrial stock includes older buildings with mezzanine additions retrofitted over decades. The original clear height may have been fine; the mezzanine addition reduces it in sections that aren't always obvious from the building entrance. We now walk the full floor and check clearance at every structural element before the machine enters the building.
Geebung is part of Brisbane's northern industrial area — port and airport proximity make it a strong transport and trade logistics location. TMR approved. Overhead clearance survey is standard on every Geebung warehouse assessment with non-standard ceiling heights.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Geebung northern industrial area transport depots and warehouses are part of our Brisbane north schedule. Overhead clearance survey standard on every warehouse assessment — sections below 3.2m get walk-behind unit specification. We've completed 5,000+ projects nationally since 2009 and carry $20M public liability insurance. Every Geebung quote includes a site assessment, surface condition report, and fixed pricing. No estimates that change at invoicing. For Workplace Health and Safety QLD improvement notices we can typically assess within 24 hours and deploy within 48-72 hours. Completion comes with photo documentation, a compliance statement, and material specifications. TMR approved for any road or carpark marking that requires local council or state road authority sign-off.
Ride-on marking machines require a minimum 3.2 metres of clearance from floor to the lowest overhead obstacle in their operating path. Walk-behind units require approximately 2.2 metres. For buildings with mezzanines, low-clearance conveyors, or overhead racking that reduces clearance below 3.2m in any section, we identify those zones during the assessment and specify walk-behind operation in that area. Surface preparation is assessed before every Geebung warehouse job, not assumed. That means checking moisture content, surface pH, contamination, and existing coating compatibility before a product is specified. We've completed 5,000+ warehouse and industrial floor marking jobs since 2009, and we carry $20M public liability insurance. Completion documentation includes product data sheets, application records, and compliance certification.
No. The finished marking quality is identical — same product, same film build, same line definition. Walk-behind operation takes longer per linear metre than ride-on, which affects the time required but not the result. We quote the additional time for walk-behind zones separately so you can see the cost impact of the low-clearance areas. Line Marking Australia has been completing marking across Geebung and surrounds since 2009, with 5,000+ projects nationally. We carry $20M public liability and $10M professional indemnity insurance, TMR approved. Every job comes with fixed pricing, photo completion documentation, compliance certification, and material specifications. Usually yes, depending on the proportion of low-clearance area. We use both machine types simultaneously — ride-on in the open sections while walk-behind is used in the mezzanine zones. The session takes longer than a standard open-clearance floor, but a single night is typically achievable for up to 3,000sqm. We schedule around your operational hours because downtime costs more than the marking job. Most Geebung facilities run Sunday nights or after-hours weekday windows. We provide a detailed session plan before arrival, work in sections to maintain partial access throughout, and have the area clear before your first shift starts. For time-critical jobs, call Niel directly on 0417 460 236.
TMR Queensland approved since 2009. Approval means we meet the contractor qualification, insurance, and technical standards required to work on state roads and local government road networks. We carry $20M public liability and $10M professional indemnity coverage, which your risk manager or procurement team can request in writing. All road marking work in Geebung is done to AS 1742.3 traffic control standards with retroreflective thermoplastic to AS/NZS 1906.3. Traffic management plans are provided before every job. You receive as-built completion photos, a compliance statement, and material certification on completion. We also cover Northgate, Virginia, Banyo on the same schedule.
