We scheduled a Chullora distribution centre remarking for a Sunday night. The facility manager had confirmed a conveyor shutdown window from 10pm to 6am. We mobilised — crew, equipment, paint. Arrived at 9:45pm to find the conveyor shutdown had been postponed due to a Monday morning critical delivery that required the line to run through the night. We had crew and equipment on site with nowhere to mark. The facility gave us a partial zone — staging and dispatch — but the main sortation floor was inaccessible. We completed what we could and rescheduled the balance.

Nobody's fault in particular. Live distribution centres have operational priorities that override planned maintenance windows on short notice. The lesson was to build a cancellation and partial-access protocol into every Chullora DC quote — what happens if the window is cancelled or reduced, what we can complete in a partial scenario, and how the reschedule is managed. That protocol is now in our DC contract terms for every Chullora and major DC job.
