Why Melbourne School Playground Marking?
A Melbourne primary school wanted to transform their bland asphalt playground into an engaging learning space. The principal had seen schools overseas with educational markings that made outdoor time both active and educational. Alphabet grids, number lines, compass roses, fitness trails.
We designed a comprehensive playground marking scheme with the school input. A 100-square number grid for maths games, alphabet hopscotch for literacy, a large compass rose for geography, fitness trail with activity stations, and classic playground games. Applied over the Christmas holidays.
Teachers reported immediate improvement in playground engagement. Kids who previously sat on benches were now actively using the markings. The number grid became part of maths lessons. Learning happens naturally through play.
