A Wangara engineering firm called us after their floor markings were lifting everywhere, less than six months after being done. When we assessed the floor, the cause was obvious before we'd taken five steps — the previous contractor had used exterior house paint from a hardware store. Not industrial paint. Not traffic paint. House paint.

Stripping house paint from concrete is harder than stripping failed industrial paint because house paint tends to penetrate the concrete surface more unevenly. We had to grind back to bare concrete in most sections, which cost the client considerably more than if they'd used the right contractor in the first place. We don't say that to rub it in. We say it because the pattern repeats: cheaper contractor uses wrong product, client pays twice.
