A Mitchell trade business had expanded their facility across three buildings over three years. Each expansion brought a new contractor with a slightly different colour convention — the original used blue for forklift lanes, a second used yellow, and the owner had done one section himself with white house paint. The whole facility was a patchwork of conflicting conventions.

Their insurer flagged the inconsistency during an annual renewal visit, giving them 60 days to standardise. We assessed all three buildings together, proposed a unified yellow-forklift, white-pedestrian convention, and quoted removal of the non-standard sections plus remarking throughout. Completed over one weekend. Insurance renewed without issue.

In 2021 we marked an unheated Mitchell workshop shed in July — ambient inside was 6 degrees at 8am. We waited until 10am. Checked again — 8 degrees. Below our 10-degree threshold for waterborne products. We explained this to the client and declined to start. They asked us to try a small test section. We did. Four days later the test section was peeling at the edges — classic cold-cure failure. We waited for a warmer week and completed the job correctly at no additional charge for the delay.
