When When Standard Paint Won't Survive?

Some facilities destroy normal paint in weeks. Food processing plants with daily hot water wash-down. Pharmaceutical warehouses with aggressive cleaning chemicals. Heavy manufacturing with oil, solvents, and constant traffic.

Two-pack epoxy coatings bond chemically to concrete, creating a surface that resists chemicals, abrasion, and impact that standard paint can't handle. Service life of 5-10 years is common in properly prepared applications.

MMA (methyl methacrylate) offers a different advantage: fast cure. Full traffic in 1-2 hours, even in cold conditions. When you can't afford days of downtime for coating to cure, MMA delivers.

We made a mixing error on a Smithfield food processing job in 2017. We got the catalyst ratio wrong on a hot day, and the epoxy cured too fast with an uneven finish. We ground it off and reapplied correctly at our cost, around $6,200.

Epoxy and MMA require precise application. We've invested in training and equipment to get it right.

Frequently Asked Questions

Epoxy is extremely durable and chemical resistant but takes 24-72 hours to cure. MMA cures in 1-2 hours but is generally less chemical resistant. We recommend based on your priorities.

Yes, we use food-grade epoxy formulations that are HACCP compliant and suitable for food processing environments. These can withstand daily wash-down and sanitisation.

Light traffic after 24 hours, forklift traffic after 48-72 hours. Full chemical resistance develops over 7 days. MMA is much faster: full traffic in 1-2 hours.

Generally no. Existing coatings must be removed for proper epoxy adhesion. We grind or blast the surface to expose clean concrete before application.

Yes, significantly. But in environments where paint fails quickly, epoxy's 5-10 year life makes it more economical over time. We help you assess the cost-benefit.

Diamond grinding or shot blasting to clean concrete with appropriate surface profile. Preparation is critical for epoxy performance. This is included in our quotes.
