Quick answer: Line Marking Australia marked two warehouses in Richlands, in Brisbane’s south-west, inside and out in 2026. After diamond grinding and water blasting, we marked all 7 fire-exit keep-clear zones, about 92 m of yellow walkway lines, chevron hatching at both loading docks, external chevrons, exit lettering and 13 car bay lines.

The brief

A business in Richlands, in Brisbane's south-west industrial belt, needed line marking both inside and outside its two warehouses. The existing paint was old and flaking, and the site wanted clear, consistent safety markings at every fire exit, along pedestrian routes and around the loading docks.

Surface preparation

New paint only lasts on a sound surface. The old, flaking paint was removed by diamond grinding, and every area to be painted was cleaned with high-pressure rotary water blasting beforehand. Only the areas being painted were cleaned, which keeps the cost down on a large site.

What we marked

  • Fire exits: all 7 fire-exit doors marked so the area in front stays clear, 3 with yellow chevrons and 4 with 200 mm KEEP CLEAR lettering
  • Walkways: about 92 m of yellow walkway edge lines (39.9 m at the front, 26.3 m and 26 m behind each warehouse) and 6 walkway symbols
  • Loading docks: yellow chevron hatching across both dock areas (60.4 m² and 40.5 m²), plus 65.4 m of external chevrons
  • Traffic: 2 straight arrows and 600 mm EXIT lettering
  • Car park: 13 car bay lines

Work was programmed with an allowance for out-of-hours work, so marking could happen while the warehouses were quiet.

Why it matters

Under the Work Health and Safety Regulations, a business must keep emergency exits and the paths to them clear, and keep people and forklifts apart where it can. Floor marking is the simplest, most visible way to show staff, drivers and visitors where to walk, where not to park and which areas must always stay clear. See Safe Work Australia for the codes of practice.

Case Study FAQs

Line Marking Australia marks the floor in front of each fire-exit door in yellow, with chevron hatching or KEEP CLEAR lettering, so the exit and the path to it are never blocked. At a Richlands warehouse we marked all seven fire exits this way.

New paint will not bond to old paint that is flaking. Line Marking Australia diamond-grinds loose paint off and pressure-cleans the surface first, so the new markings last instead of peeling with the old layer.

Yes. Line Marking Australia schedules warehouse marking at night or on weekends when needed, so forklifts and staff can keep working during the day.

At the Richlands warehouses, Line Marking Australia marked yellow chevron hatching across both loading dock areas, 60.4 m² and 40.5 m², plus 65.4 m of external chevrons. Chevron hatching shows forklift drivers, truck drivers and staff where the dock area is, so people keep clear of it.

Yes. At the Richlands warehouses, Line Marking Australia used high-pressure rotary water blasting only on the areas to be painted, after diamond grinding off old, flaking paint. Cleaning just the marked areas keeps the cost down on a large site while still giving the new paint a sound surface.

Line Marking Australia marked about 92 m of yellow walkway edge lines at the Richlands warehouses: 39.9 m at the front, and 26.3 m and 26 m behind each warehouse. Six walkway symbols were added along the routes, so staff and visitors can see where it is safe to walk.
