Quick answer: Line Marking Australia re-marked a factory, office and car park in Warana, on the Sunshine Coast, in 2026. The old surface was water blasted, shot blasted and diamond ground first. We then marked yellow walkways, 4 pedestrian crossings, 2 fire-exit keep-clear zones, a forklift work zone and 26 car bays.

The brief

A factory and office in Warana, on the Sunshine Coast, asked for forklift zones, walkways and car parking to be marked. The existing markings were very faded, and some old paint had to come off before anything new could go down.

Surface preparation

The old surface would not hold new paint, so preparation came first:

  • High-pressure rotary water blasting of every area to be painted
  • Shot blasting to remove burnished and flaking paint inside
  • Diamond grinding to remove old, flaking paint in the car park

What we marked

  • Walkways: operator walkways (2 yellow 100 mm edge lines, 27 m each) and an office walkway (2 edge lines, 26 m each)
  • Crossings: 4 white pedestrian crossings, 34.5 m² in total
  • Fire exits: 2 yellow exclusion zones with 200 mm KEEP CLEAR lettering
  • Forklift area: a 30 m work-zone edge line (150 mm, yellow) with 300 mm WORK ZONE lettering
  • Car park: 18 standard bays, 8 parallel bays, an accessible parking symbol and a 7 m arched edge line

The quote included an allowance for out-of-hours work so marking could be done around the factory's operations.

Why it matters

Where forklifts and people share a floor, the Work Health and Safety Regulations require them to be kept apart as far as practicable. Marked walkways, crossings and a defined work zone show everyone where forklifts operate and where pedestrians cross. Car park bays are set out to AS/NZS 2890.1:2004, and the accessible bay to AS/NZS 2890.6:2009.

Case Study FAQs

Shot blasting fires small steel shot at a concrete floor to strip burnished or flaking paint and open up the surface. Line Marking Australia uses it, as at a Warana factory, so new floor markings bond to the concrete instead of peeling off with the old layer.

Line Marking Australia marks yellow walkway edge lines, white pedestrian crossings where walkways cross forklift routes, and a clearly labelled forklift work zone, so people and forklifts each have their own space.

Yes. Line Marking Australia marks factories, warehouses and car parks across the Sunshine Coast, including Warana, Kawana, Caloundra and Maroochydore.

At the Warana factory, Line Marking Australia marked 2 yellow exclusion zones in front of the fire exits, each with 200 mm KEEP CLEAR lettering. The marking shows staff and forklift drivers that the area in front of each fire exit must never be blocked, even on a busy shift.

Diamond grinding removes old, flaking paint so new line marking can bond to a sound surface. At the Warana site, Line Marking Australia used diamond grinding in the car park and shot blasting inside, after high-pressure rotary water blasting of every area to be painted.

Yes. The Warana factory quote included an allowance for out-of-hours work, so Line Marking Australia could mark the walkways, pedestrian crossings and forklift work zone around the factory’s operations. That keeps production running while the factory floor and car park are re-marked.
