Rejuvenating pre-treatment is a penetrating solvent-based primer that introduces light aromatic oils into the oxidised asphalt surface. These oils partially restore the bitumen's original flexibility and cohesion — the same chemistry as commercial asphalt rejuvenators used for road maintenance. The restored binder provides a cohesive substrate for the marking primer and topcoat to bond to. It doesn't reverse all oxidation damage, but it significantly improves adhesion on surfaces where standard primer would fail.

That's a fair question and depends on the overall asphalt condition beyond just the marking adhesion. If the asphalt is showing significant cracking, potholing, or structural distress, remarking over a failing surface only delays the inevitable. We assess the structural condition during our survey and advise if resurfacing is a better investment than remarking. Oxidised asphalt that's structurally sound but surface-weathered is a good candidate for remarking with rejuvenating pre-treatment.
