Braeside's High-Bay Warehouses Have Rack-Aisle Lines That Must Be Absolutely Straight — Laser Layout Is Non-Negotiable
Braeside's Kingston industrial estate has a concentration of high-bay warehouse facilities — 12-18 metre clear height warehouses with narrow-aisle racking systems. Narrow-aisle racking requires extremely precise aisle line positioning. The aisle width for very narrow aisle (VNA) forklifts is typically 1.6-1.8 metres, and the forklift's guide system (wire guidance or rail) operates within millimetres of the rack uprights.
A Governor Road VNA warehouse had existing aisle lines that had been applied slightly out of parallel — a 15mm deviation over 60 metres of aisle length. For a standard warehouse, 15mm over 60 metres would be invisible and irrelevant. In a VNA system, the aisle line guides the optical or laser scanner on the forklift — a 15mm deviation can cause the forklift to drift toward the racking.
We used laser-projected layout lines for the VNA aisle marking — a rotating laser establishes a dead-straight reference line, chalk pilot lines are laid over the laser projection, client approval obtained, then thermoplastic applied exactly on the chalk lines. The approved and laser-verified layout eliminates the deviation risk. We've used this process on every VNA warehouse we've marked since 2019.
Braeside is Kingston's Centre Road and Governor Road industrial hub — high-bay warehousing, logistics, and manufacturing. VicRoads approved.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Braeside Governor Road and Centre Road high-bay warehouse and VNA logistics facilities are part of our Kingston schedule. Laser layout protocol standard for all VNA and narrow-aisle warehouse floors — 15mm deviation over 60 metres is invisible to the eye but operationally significant for laser-guided forklifts. We've completed 5,000+ projects nationally since 2009 and carry $20M public liability. Fixed pricing, VicRoads approved.
A rotating construction laser at one end of the aisle projects a reference beam with a deviation of approximately 1-2mm over 60 metres under indoor conditions — well within the tolerance of VNA guidance systems. The chalk pilot line follows the laser projection and is visually checked before thermoplastic is applied. The client signs off on the pilot line position before any thermoplastic is committed.
Once the chalk pilot lines are laid across all aisles, we walk the full layout with the warehouse manager or operations supervisor. They confirm that the aisle positions align with the racking layout and that no pilot line conflicts with a rack upright position. Written sign-off is obtained before thermoplastic application begins. This step takes 20-30 minutes for a standard Braeside VNA warehouse and eliminates the rework risk from approved layout errors.
Yes, if the deviation is consistent (same direction, same amount). We grind off the deviated line and remark in the correct position confirmed by laser layout. If the deviation varies along the line length, the line must be removed in full and relaid from the laser reference. Selective correction is faster and cheaper than a full floor remark if only specific aisles are affected.
VicRoads approved since 2009. We meet contractor qualification, insurance, and technical standards for state and council road networks. We carry $20M public liability and $10M professional indemnity — certificates available on request. All road marking in Braeside is completed to AS 1742.3 with retroreflective thermoplastic to AS/NZS 1906.3. You receive as-built photos, a compliance statement, and material certification on every job. We also cover Moorabbin, Cheltenham, Keysborough on the same schedule.
