The practical difference is durability: thermoplastic on standard asphalt typically lasts 5-7 years; cold-applied polyurethane on permeable asphalt typically lasts 3-5 years in the same conditions. Under vehicle traffic, the unsupported thermoplastic film cracks and lifts at the void locations within 6-12 months.
